Hot Mess - A Residency in Motherhood
As I move further through this new era of life - the chapter of wiping noses and bums, tending to scraped knees and hurt feelings, and kissing soft, sweet smelling heads goodnight - I am filled with the awe at the magnitude of importance of the title “Mom”. It is filled with the greatest joy and love imaginable. These tiny beings sprung to life of my own free will, are the centre of my entire being.
But with this boundless love, come the challenges and tedium of reality. The days revolve around maintaining my sense of self while giving selflessly. Finding balance in the tasks that need to be done, and the need to engage, teach and play. Cycles of waking, feeding, playing, bathing, cleaning, sleeping. Bicycles. Rinse cycles. Spin cycles. Life cycles.
Frankly, my life as a parent is chaos.
My self directed Residency in Motherhood, is an ongoing and evolving experiment in seeing and embracing the beautiful side of the clutter, and the raw, sticky, messy side of parenting. This project is for the invaluable, behind-the-scenes, household heroes we call Mom.
